Using the Happily Ever AfterWords Anniversary Box

  • Happily Ever AfterWords cards and envelopes can be distributed at a wedding shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner, reception, or any other appropriate gathering at the time of the wedding.
  • The number of cards distributed can be based on the number of individuals in attendance or assigned to couples, families, and groups of friends.
  • A bridesmaid, groomsman, sibling, honor attendant, friend, or family member with a flair for organizing can distribute cards and pens, explain the premise to guests, and collect cards after they’ve been written.
  • For a seated dinner or reception, place Happily Ever AfterWords cards and envelopes on dinner plates or on a place-card table. For less formal events, put envelopes in a basket and have a designated helper hand them out as guests arrive.

  • Make sure you have plenty of pens available for guests. Happily Ever AfterWords pens can be purchased in sets of 25 at checkout.
  • Remind guests not to write on the envelope. Much of the anticipation arises from the couple not knowing whose note they will be opening on their anniversary.
  • Assign extra-special anniversaries (10th, 25th, 50th) to very special people: grandparents, parents, or godparents.
  • Encourage people to write from the heart, to be creative, and to have fun. They might also include mementos such as a flower petal, a cocktail napkin, place-card, or other surprise.
  • Be sure to collect every card, perhaps in a basket by the door or on a gift table.
  • To the couple: Don’t peek! Open each envelope on the designated anniversary for the next 50 years.
